A modern sports stadium must have a good lighting environment, ensure visual effects, meet the lighting requirements of the audience, participants, and television broadcasting for the competition, so that it can reflect the brightness of the venue environment, the three-dimensional sense of the viewing target, the state of athletes during sports, and the atmosphere of the venue, etc. The realization of lighting mainly depends on improving the lighting design scheme and relying on excellent electrical control systems, The design of lighting schemes is mainly considered from three aspects.
1. The visual requirements of participants are to minimize the impact of lighting on athletes to the greatest extent possible; 2. Audience visual requirements to minimize discomfort caused by lighting to the audience; 3. Lighting requirements for television broadcasting should strive to improve the quality of broadcasting colors as much as possible.
2, Taking a certain 1416 sports venues as an example, briefly introduce the design and application of lighting in sports venues.
(1) Project Introduction:
This project is a public building with three floors above ground
1. Power supply system: The power consumption for fire fans, emergency lighting, venue lighting, scoring display screens, and communication rooms in this project is Level 2 load, while the remaining loads are Level 3 load. A distribution room is set on the first floor, and two power sources are used for power supply.
The power load adopts radial power supply, and the general lighting on each floor adopts trunk power supply. All fire loads, venue lighting, integral display screens, communication rooms, etc. adopt dual power switching, and are equipped with automatic switching and self resetting devices.
2. Lighting system: Each floor and fire compartment of emergency lighting is equipped with a pair of power switch boxes. In case of a fire, public lighting is cut off and emergency lighting is strongly lit. The emergency lighting system adopts the ELC intelligent fire emergency evacuation lighting system, and the central battery main station is placed in the duty room on the first floor.
3. Fire protection system: The area alarm system of this project, and the fire control center is located outside the building
4. Weak current system: Each layer is equipped with a set of telephone, television, and network boxes, which are radially distributed to each terminal point on this layer.
This project strictly adopts high-efficiency energy-saving lamps and electronic ballasts in accordance with energy-saving requirements. The staircase light adopts an electronic delay switch to achieve energy-saving purposes. The following mainly introduces the venue lighting and emergency lighting system.
(2) Venue lighting:
1. Lamp selection. When selecting light sources and lighting fixtures, consideration should be given to the following aspects: color temperature, uniformity of illumination, color rendering index, light efficiency, lifespan, glare, and the distribution and efficiency of lighting intensity. The light source of this venue has chosen metal halide lamps, which have advantages such as high light efficiency (75-80 lm/W), wide color temperature range (4500-6500 K), good color rendering (Ra=), and long lifespan, meeting the requirements of color television broadcasting. According to the actual situation of the venue, two types of metal halide lamps, 250W (A) and 1000W (B), are used for lighting in this example. There are 8 types of lighting methods according to the different functions of the venue: 1) basketball professional competitions; 2) Basketball amateur competitions; 3) Cleaning; 4) Audience area (entry and exit); 5) Basketball training; 6) Volleyball professional competitions; 7) Volleyball amateur competitions; 8) Volleyball training.
In this example, referring to the results calculated by Phil-ips through professional software, a total of 32 A-type lamps and 36 B-type lamps were selected to achieve different lighting functions through different control methods for A and B.
2. Lighting control
Lighting control systems are currently divided into two categories: relay control and intelligent lighting control systems. Traditional relays have multiple control circuits and nodes, resulting in low system reliability and a waste of manpower. The intelligent lighting control system has strong practicality and scalability, and is easy to manage. This example is divided into 8 modes, using an intelligent lighting control system. Different control schemes can be set according to actual needs to meet the needs of different competition content and activities, and various lighting scene modes can be easily changed and changed. According to the ignition time of each group of lamps, it is easy to maintain and manage, ensuring that each lamp is always in good working condition during the competition. This not only saves lines, facilitates construction, and simplifies operation, but also greatly reduces error rates and saves manpower.
The layout plan of the lamp is shown in Figure 1:
Introduction to various lighting methods, lamp positioning is not listed here, only the lamp layout and lighting direction diagram in the first scenario are shown:
1) Basketball professional competition: average illumination 800lx. The number of lamps 32A+36B, as shown in Figure 2

(3) Emergency lighting: Sports venues are places with concentrated personnel, and emergency power and accident lighting facilities should be installed to ensure the safe evacuation of all personnel from the site in a short period of time in emergency situations. The illuminance value of safety lighting should not be less than 5% of the general lighting illuminance value of the place. The safety lighting here refers to the lighting used to evacuate on-site personnel. During use and maintenance, regular inspections and evaluations should be conducted. The duration of emergency and evacuation lighting should comply with the requirements of the "Code for Design of Civil Buildings" and relevant standards. This project adopts the ELC central intelligent digital point monitoring fire emergency evacuation lighting indicator system.
1. System composition: composed of controller host, (DC) battery main station, safety voltage type controller extension, hybrid controller extension, safety voltage type centralized power control sign lamp, safety voltage type centralized power control lighting lamp, centralized power control lighting lamp, and high evacuation lighting type centralized power control lighting lamp.
2. Each controller host, (DC) battery master station, safety voltage type controller extension, and hybrid type controller extension all have unique addresses; Each centralized power controlled lamp has a unique address and is equipped with a sensor.
3. The control line and power line of the safety voltage centralized power control type emergency lighting lamp in this project are laid in the same pipe, and the control line and power line of the high evacuation illumination centralized power control type lighting lamp are laid in separate pipes.
4. Basic functional requirements for the central intelligent digital point monitoring fire emergency evacuation lighting indicator system:
(1) The OFF/ON program for daily management shall be determined by the owner using secondary programming method;
(2) The system automatically monitors the (DC) battery main station, controller extension, and centralized power control type lights in real-time. When a fault occurs, the host can issue an audible and visual alarm and upload it to the FAS system; The sound fault can be manually eliminated, while the light fault must be eliminated before it can be resolved
(3) Conduct functional testing planning procedures every 24 hours; Provide a discharge test plan program prompt every three months; This ensures that the system and every light are in good condition before a disaster occurs
(4) Forced lighting: The fire signal input causes the entire system lights to enter a forced lighting state.
(5) Emergency evacuation program plan can be compiled: prepare emergency evacuation program plan uniformly based on the fire signal input area; Programming the entire system signage lights: Based on the information transmitted by the fire alarm system, adjust the lighting fixtures in the hazardous area, turn off the staircase exit lights in the hazardous area, adjust the arrow pointing to the emergency signage lights in the hazardous area, point to the safe area, and avoid people walking towards the hazardous area. The lighting fixtures have a screen flashing function, which attracts people's visual attention and guides them to safely and quickly escape from dangerous areas.
5. Fire linkage can be achieved in one of the following two ways:
(1) Adopting dry node mode: FAS provides ignition point signals to all fire compartments in the building as a corresponding linkage node to the e-bus system;
(2) Using the RS232 interface standard modbus protocol mode, FAS provides ignition point signals to all fire compartments in the building as a corresponding linkage node to the e-bus system;
6. When ordering, the selection of FAS needs to be negotiated and agreed upon in synchronization with the interface and communication protocol used in the e-bus system.
3, Summary
The lighting of sports venues reflects the spiritual outlook and overall development level of a city or unit. For sports buildings, electrical designers need to follow the corresponding design specifications based on the functional requirements of sports venues and the characteristics of sports competitions, closely cooperate with other professions, and comprehensively consider to make the design safer, advanced, reliable, reasonable, and applicable.
